Introduction to Carting (6 week class) Carting (or draft work) can be for fun, such as giving rides to your grandkids, or competitive since the Bernese Mtn Dog Club of America has opened its draft tests to all breeds for titling. Large breeds can perform useful work such as hauling firewood and garden supplies. In this class, we will teach you how to SAFELY introduce your dog to the cart through gradual steps and then continue on to teaching the maneuvers. Dogs should know basic obedience. Rally is extremely helpful. Since there is a monetary outlay for equipment, we are offering auditing slots if you wish to see if this is something you would like to do. Our instructor, Barb Waltenberry, has been competing in draft work since 1999. Working Spot Limit − 4 (Audit Limit − 6 *see Audit class offering).
